Inflammatory Bowel Disorders
Let’s face it– Inflammatory Bowel Disorders ruin lives! If you suffer with any form of chronic bowel disorder (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Celiac Disease, etc) or you suffer with chronic GI symptoms (stomach pain, bloating, contipation, diarrhea, reflux, etc) you know what I am talking about!
Many of you coming to this site are struggling with chronic GI symptoms / disorders and are tired and frustrated with a medical system that is failing you.
I understand your frustration! That is why I suggest you request my “Gut Recovery DVD”.
Currently I see two problems with our current medical treatments with gut related disorders.
The first problem is that doctor’s have a habit of treating symptoms or a diagnosis. A common thread with almost all GUT related disorders is inflammation and/or autoimmunity (your immune system is destroying your own tissues). Medical treatments focus on harsh medications to reduce inflammation and immune suppressive drugs to shut down the immune system. Not only can the drugs cause significant side effects, they may actually cause the same problems you are taking them for! When the damage is severe, surgery is performed to removed the damaged tissue.
The second glaring problem is that often little is ever done to identify the CAUSE of your symptoms or disorder. Medicine puts so much emphasis on naming the disorder that identifying the cause is never addressed.
Your symptoms, while problematic for you, are not the real problem. What is causing your symptoms IS the problem. You must identify the CAUSE of your symptoms or disorder if you ever hope to improve your health and the quality of your life.
I started with Dr. Balcavage in March of 2011. After 15 visits I am well on my way to eating differently and feeling quite well. Although I didn’t have many bad effects from my gluten sensitivity (which isn’t a good thing in a way) the unknown ones were really affecting my health, such as blood sugar, joint problems, bowel problems, sleep and balance. Dr. Balcavage took a great deal of time with me and my questions. He never rushed me and since he also suffers from gluten sensitivity he really has expertise on the subject. I was really happy to have his conclusion backed up by blood and saliva tests. Also, the one insignificant proof of my improvement was the fact that my fingernails have grown and become quite healthy looking. I am 76 years old and am sorry I didn’t find him sooner.
